About me

Hello,

My name is Jamie (known as Blake12000 over on my youtube channel)
http://www.youtube.com/user/Blake12000

I'm a composer and although I've only started quite recently - I'm loving it. I mainly compose for lute although I have plans for chamber music (which has a lute in it of course ;) ) and for the piano which I am learning to play.

Check out my youtube channel where I upload the compositions which I can play. And subscribe!

On a more personal note:

I am very keen on classical music, especially early music and lute music. Bach, Dowland and Piccinini being my favourite composers. I also like Shostakovich and a lot of minimalist music such as Steve Reich and Simeon Ten Holt.

My musical story goes as follows, when I was very young, I tried the piano but both couldn't be bothered and found using two hands at the same time difficult. So I stopped. Many years later I bought an acoustic guitar and got lessons. I took to it very quickly but quickly found that I didn't like any acoustic guitar music, what I liked was classical guitar music such as Fernando Sor. I got a classical guitar as a Christmas present. An incredibly nice old man whom I am very fond of told me about lutes. (he's a fanatical early music lover (like me now!)) I looked them up, loved the look of them, bought some CDs, adored the sound, saved up the cash and bought one!
It has made my life so much more exciting - I've joined a chamber group for early music, joined a chior and will be performing with it at the Royal Albert Hall in November 2009! (Don't get me wrong, its just chance, I'm not a very good singer!).
I've re-tried the piano and have taken to well! I'm very pleased... :)

Anyway, that's my musical life - it may only be recently that I've started to love it but I can now say that its my main passion, along with writing novels.

Jamie
